i found a tool to generate a complete sprite sheet from a .GIF file  

but steel need to find a way to organise the sprite sheet

it can be fix with nico file renamer

use with file  name like 001 to 104 or more ( can be make in batch mode in ifranviewer )

1 choose the first file thanks to the leading source button
2 choose the destination directory for the file (it must be empty )
3 colone adapt the number of the number of image one has
4 check that the line number is 8
5 modify checkbox for adaptation within the meaning of playback images
6 press preview to check the result
7 press to rename rename files

create a giff file with all image starting by 001 to 104 ( with gimp )

and you are ready to go in Avi4Bmp Smiley

I followed Illidan's instruction to convert Rat Ogre to DO sprite.
Everything was fine till I reached step 'remove fat contour' with GIMP.

Here is what I have after I resized sprite sheet with Photoshop:

do you delete the background to have a transparent layer and after save as tga

whem you open the tga in gimp you would have the transparency layer in

A question.
You use Photoshop for resizing. But Gimp can also resize pictures. Do you mean that Gimp's resizing quality is worse than that of Photoshop?
Same question about other tools. Everything they do is also doable by Gimp. Is it the quality of Gimp that you do not like?

ya gimp make ugly antilising during scaling up

also photoshop macro or script for multiple files is more easy to use

the color reduction is also way better with ifranviewer

side note : my bro is close to finish a progam tools to make sprite sheet from SOTHR more easy and quick

man, thats hell of a work!

do you expect this to be a multiplayer or you're editing a campaing?
cause speaking of campaing it could be quite frustrating to play once 1-3 squad units will die and you'd have restart and restart again..

ya i think i will be great to make a multiplayer games

 i dont know how to do it but i would like to had some pnj unit to create destrucible obstacle ( like wall, or small house )

wow those are nice units I will definitely try them and see how they look after transferred to DO reality. Smiley

So I basically install FLICster, then download flc files for different units and export them to gimp-readable formation? somehow my gimp refuses to work with .flc even though it should

you have to launch flicster / open the flc files with flicster / and export you will have a sprite sheet for the annimation about 6 or 5 per zip file

it will give you pcx file you can use in gimps

Well, yeah. Also I downloaded Age of Wonders sprites you linked in another topic. There are interesting pictures of different kinds of wood elves and I may take something from there. Just I think that if we already have elven cavalry and infantry of acceptable quality level, I won't force myself to import same unit types.

Do you by chance have dual-wielding sprites? not necessarily elves Smiley

I mean, I may never find time to learn all the stuff about graphical modding, but if you explain to me how I use _all_ DO heads I will be very greatful. I have plans for a wood elf campaign and would gladly use elf king, countess, Altdorf's green mage (what was his name?) and other heads in battles and also substitute Morgan's head in campaign talks.

And if Olly or someone throws me a couple of custom elvish heads made of Elrod and/or Galed, I will swoon in extasy )

he he good point ... it give me the opportunity to thank you for your Chaos Dwarf campaign ( great fun Smiley give me the mood to get into the dark omen mod community Smiley   )

so  back to the subject


in your campaign the obsidain guard have dispel magic in magic items ( see linkeed picture ) and keep it to the very end off the campaign as they survive of course Smiley

for the difficulty the game must be : i cant say ... i tend to seek for fun with an arcade game play where we can use every posibility of the game :

like tactical withdraw /
short kamikazee wizard action to kill enemy artilery and quick withdraw /
make shield wall with strong unit to support an unstoppable wave of ennemy /
manage a square defence ( like in the very old but very good zulu movie 1964) /
set a lighting attack with a full cavalery army liste ( like the charge of the light brigade movie )
use 3 very bad units  to get run a very strong ennemy unit by charging him from 3 sides ( front, side, and back side )  


have been said that i have no experience in making dark omen campaign but that the way i tend to go Smiley

note side : i tend to think ranged unit are very strong in dark Omen and dont talk about artilery unit , must be a way to give more space for medium and heavy armured infantery unit , like making a support wizard class

all to be balanced of course

but a good army list could be 4 or 5 infantry unit , 1 or 2 cavalery unit , a support wizard , 1 or 2 ranged unit , 1 artilery unit , and maybe a free lance monster unit as a jungler unit ( from lol experience : how can quickely switch is close combat location )
