So after 10 years the site is still running and I see a lot if improvements are modded for Dark Omen, good work olly (& team), keep the spirit up for at least the next 10 years!
If you read this post, you know, that we planned to change something in the team structure. And now, after we discussed everything, the roadmap for the upcoming 5 days is finished.
You definitely noticed, that the site itself had no improvement since months, on the other hand we had several good mods and translations of the game.
The first step we do, is to move the whole page to Sweden and hope. So with this act, there will be a great and golden future for modding and extending Dark Omen. However I will not follow in this future. From Monday olly will be the new administrator of this page. I will quit completely and (perhaps) stay as normal user, we'll see. On Monday we'll start moving all files and the domain to the new server (possibly some downtimes) and then can the party start.
I think, this is the best way, cause I'm still pushed for time and so I'm not responsible anymore serious, without me, the site will be more open minded in this way, so it looks like a good choice.
I think olly will recruit some new mods and administrators, so stay tuned!
At least I wish olly good luck with the site and hope, that the whole community will have a good time.
That's the point So at the moment it's ok to "push" old topics. When we'll have one million member we'll perhaps change this behaviour but for now it doesn't matter how old a post is. Sometime it's very useful to reanimate a thread, when you found new interesting aspects about the topic. But you should in general be careful in posting something like "i agree", it looks better, if you write some more words and explain, why you agree (independent how old the topic is)
The next few days, we'll change a lot in the internal team structure of the Team. Also we'll move the server. Due that there will be (perhaps) some downtime while the IP address change. We apologise for the trouble which will be caused in advance.
In the last few days I had some business contacts all over the world and (as expected) there were a lot of different custom about the communications.
For example in it is common, that, if you find a mistake in a project, you say it directly to the one who did it: "what you're doing is wrong". After that you try to solve it together. On the other hand, as German, you don't praise other persons, when they finish their step, cause you expect, that everyone do his work as well as we can.
I see often, that Americans praise every small step in the project "well done", "great work" etc. which is very unfamiliar for me, cause I think "that was such a small step, of course I did my best, but no need to start a party about it". In Germany, I think, we would say: "nice, next step please"
So my question is: how do you think, how "handle" persons in your country
mistakes in projects (say it directly, try to say it in a "positive" way etc.)
when someone do something (nothing special, just something what he has to do)
