Hey dudes, I would appreciate any feedback concerning the CamStudio stuff.
I'm not a pro in this soft, but I was nerding around and googled a bit, and made it work for me (fixed flickering issue, and sound record issue, and found a nice codec).
But anyone else could have some other problems which we could handle together.

Well I had the flickering issue too, while I was trying to capture the full screen. When I set the Fixed region it worked fine.
Did you set the Fixed region correctly? Please make sure.
i followed your manual whole way. the capture area is fixed with 640x480 (or i hvnt remebered which one)

Weird to hear about GOM. It plays correctly for me... (what a heck...).
maybe i just need to update my codecs. not a big problem

And what happens when you choose the "Record sound from speakers"?
the problem is, that its impossible to choose anything in section "recording", except the "microfone" as shown at my attachment. mayeb we need to discuss it in chat, - if u have time, i usually avaliable aprox. from 20:30 to 23:30 GMT+3 at hamachi channels dark-omen1, and 2

Official Website
or use FFDshow it has Xvid and lots of other codecs implemented. (download latest file for newest features or stable for a stable version Wink but I prefer latest)

Ok, Alavet. Let me think about it. And I'll try to get to chat in the evening.

And Ghabry what about you? Did you try CamStudio?

Ok, I think I need to add one more thing to my primary tutorial.
It's about Vista Alt-tab fix. This probably is the clue to get rid of the flickering effect.

I think so, but it does not work. When I try to go back, the screen is black.

Ok, and do you have do_vista_fix and do_crashfix both installed?

First of all, big thanks for the tutorial. Author has done really great job.
But I have the same flickering problem and I found no cure against it. (Win XP OS) Vista, by the way doesn't demand of use
do_crushfix  or do_vista_fix. It works fine and doesn't flicker at all. Perhaps some another codecs will help, would they?

It's not a codec problem for sure.
It's an issue of CamStudio capturing the screen. It's more complicated.

I think that guys with XP should try to record full screen (not fixed region).
The ones with Vista should install both fixes and try again.

My Windows 7 just cannot be that much different.
