Title: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on September 27, 2009, 09:52:22 PM Hi just thought I`d stop by and update you on our project. We have progressed quite a bit, but still have alot of details and bugs to iron out.
Here are some recent screenies of some of the teams: Chaos (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/Gilsio/Chaos.jpg) Wood Elves (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/Gilsio/WoodElves.jpg) Kislev (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/Gilsio/Kislev.jpg) Khemri (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/Gilsio/Khemri.jpg) Empire (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/Gilsio/Empire.jpg) Dwarves (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/Gilsio/Dwarves.jpg) Dark Elves (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/Gilsio/DarkElves-1.jpg) Brettonnia (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/Gilsio/Brettonnia.jpg) Chaos Dwarves (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/Gilsio/ChaosDwarves-1.jpg) Oh! And we changed the name of our mod to Dark Omen Expanded. -Cheers Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Kypper on September 27, 2009, 10:22:29 PM Why no skavens ? Since we already have the sprites... ::)
Btw, great job ! Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on September 27, 2009, 10:34:58 PM ? do you mean sothr sprites?
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: olly on September 27, 2009, 10:59:15 PM Fantastic work!
This is really shaping up to being another Dream come True. :) p.s I would love to see this Dark Omen Expansion have its own, well deserved sub-forum. (as for SOTHR sprites, a sprite editor/convertor like Mdose/Rdose would have to be made first) Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Ghabry on September 28, 2009, 01:30:02 PM (Topic moved to Mods->Sprites Subforum because it fits there best at the moment)
p.s I would love to see this Dark Omen Expansion have its own, well deserved sub-forum. You can create articles in the Wiki (http://wiki.dark-omen.org). Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on September 28, 2009, 04:17:34 PM Well it would be helpful with a sub forum, as we intend to release it with a ton of lists, and we would require different threads for feedback for that, as well as the graphical side, bugs, and the single player campaign and so on.
Having it all in one thread would quickly devolve into one stinking mess Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: bembelimen on September 28, 2009, 05:29:20 PM though it's a nice project, but it's still a modded campaign like Flaks one? Anyways, I created a subforum here (http://forum.dark-omen.org/dark-omen-expanded-b50.0/)
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: alavet on September 28, 2009, 05:35:31 PM its amazing. trully.
need some graphical changes especially in cavalry, but the fact that u did so huge amount of job without even showing it... you're awesome. cant wait to see it at multiplayer. p.s. it seems that it will be impossible to have a big books of armies yet? :( can Mika comment on that with Wartbed project? just imagine how enthusiasms of these masters could've help WARTBED sir! Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Mikademus on September 28, 2009, 08:38:28 PM A sub-forum is great, it is what this project needed!
About wartbed using the efforts of this, already in my mind, good sir! :P If the sprites made are compatible with DO then wartbed will be able to import them! Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: mormacili on September 28, 2009, 10:43:30 PM Quote though it's a nice project, but it's still a modded campaign like Flaks one? Anyways, I created a subforum here Our main focus is creating a expanded more balanced dark omen multiplayer with 14 different armies. We will probably relase a campaign at some point, but that is a secondary goal (so putting us in the Campaigns forum is sort of misleading, but thank you for the Subforum). And don't panic. There will be Skaven. Quote About wartbed using the efforts of this, already in my mind, good sir! If the sprites made are compatible with DO then wartbed will be able to import them! I dream about a future where man is not limited by the max number of sprites :) Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on September 30, 2009, 11:53:23 AM Quote I dream about a future where man is not limited by the max number of sprites Such a dreamer that one :P Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Jim on September 30, 2009, 11:17:22 PM Completely stunned.
Amazing work! If this comes to life it'll be the happiest day of any Warhammer fan :) And I'm so glad to see that you're doing it so close to the table game. Great! Many many respects to you guys. Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: warhammerfreak on October 06, 2009, 06:32:46 PM I really like it too.
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: alavet on November 27, 2009, 10:52:05 AM any news?! :)
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on November 27, 2009, 07:47:19 PM Having a break for exams :P Things are progressing nicely though, so I hope we can get a release somewhere around christmas
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on November 28, 2009, 03:24:09 PM Im doing some tiny work on structuring the Banner system.
There will be some Evil common banners and Good common banners, and about 3 army specific banners per army. Im planning designs, gathering source images, and have started making some at the moment. Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on December 03, 2009, 02:48:20 PM Bad news, mormacili`s pc has crashed, so we may have some file loss.
Ive finished up improving the squig sprite, and have plans to finish the savage orc in a short time. With all the new portraits having become available, things will look alot cooler! Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on December 05, 2009, 06:14:36 PM Started work on making the Ogre team prettier.
Normal Ogres: (http://podhammer.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/ogrebull.jpg) The Leadbelchers (Will have Steamcannons) (http://lh3.ggpht.com/_u4KH7PK7LdQ/RuYAlJYENvI/AAAAAAAAAuA/p_gTqlL-GIA/DSCF3043.JPG)(http://l.yimg.com/g/images/spaceball.gif) And the Rhinox Riders: (These guys will be insane) (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/rhinoxcav2store.jpg) Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: olly on December 05, 2009, 06:17:58 PM Wicked!
:) Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: alavet on December 05, 2009, 06:33:36 PM lol saw them on the christmas stuff
OT: oso sad that they didnt issued Starcraft Ghost Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on December 06, 2009, 09:36:15 AM Heh, either my sprites are uglier than I thought, or your vision is not quite good Alavet. They are not in the Christmas thing, I have only done a few fairies! :P
And yes, SC Ghost would probably have been good, but SC2 will be better! Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Mikademus on December 06, 2009, 04:53:54 PM Something tells me the Ogres might fast become a personal favourite! :)
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Nitrox on December 24, 2009, 05:23:07 PM How it's going Grend and team :)?
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: alavet on January 17, 2010, 03:10:13 PM any news sir?
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on February 19, 2010, 11:28:05 PM Hi guys sorry about the lack of news.
Ive been extremely busy with school, and we have not been able to playtest due to connection trouble. thus work has been slow, bit the ogre is nearing completition and i think morma has some Cool stuff planned as well. Sorry about delays, still working on this! Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Mikademus on February 20, 2010, 06:35:00 PM Great to hear! We're all excited about this and looking forward to any news!
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: olly on February 21, 2010, 12:46:28 AM Good luck with the school work and great to know the Orgres are progressing well.
:) Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: fabius on March 10, 2010, 11:19:45 PM are you gonna have night goblins for gnoblars?
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on March 16, 2010, 09:38:56 AM At the moment that is the plan yes. We only have so and so many slots to put units in, (As well as it taking alot of time making sprites) so, gnoblars will be gobbos.
Here is a link for anyone interested to the spreadsheet we are using as the base for our project: Here you can see: -What we work on atm -Progress -Plans for the different slots -Portrait and Banner stuff -Thoughts about the army balance stuff Downside is that we write a mix of Norwegian and English, so not all of it may be understandable... Ferdig means Done Ă…pen means Open https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AhwzpYrrq5rHdGpUamMweS13OG1TaDN4WkQzRUJ2UVE&hl=en (https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AhwzpYrrq5rHdGpUamMweS13OG1TaDN4WkQzRUJ2UVE&hl=en) Oh, and I might need someone to help me playtest some stuff in the future, any takers? ;) (This would help speed this project along alot, since we are kind of stuck without any way to test things atm) Im looking for someone who is often available to play, and preferably is able to make videos of the games so we can have some more media. Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Nitrox on March 16, 2010, 10:48:57 AM I can play test and make videos ;)
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on March 16, 2010, 01:31:30 PM Good. I`ve decided to make this project more public TODAY, so anyone interested can join the DOE hamachi channel, and then I`ll make available a beta download for those interested in testing it out this evening!
There will be some rules of course: -No redistribution of files -Please ask before using DOE files in your own projects -Posting pictures or videos of your battles is mandatory! :P The Channel is: darkomenexpanded Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Subscan on July 14, 2010, 11:19:29 AM Hey guys,
you have done an amazing job with the DE campaign! Hiwever, I have one major problem. Maybe it's a bug, I don't know, but in the Ogre mission in the old forest, the game doesn't end, although i killed all ogres. I've waited forever, but still nothing happens. So do you know what is going on? Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on July 20, 2010, 08:14:00 AM That probably means I messed up somehow! Didnt really test the sp missions as it was just a quick addition to show sprites. MAY begin over making it proper. the reason ofre mission prob dont work is that game crashing scrap catapult ed disabled, meaning you never will kill all enemies. My bad
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: alavet on July 20, 2010, 09:36:25 AM recently i installed DO at my laptop and it worked on best graphic perfectly w/o flickering (at Windows 7 with d3ll)
so i finished first 6 missions within 30 minutes and was happy to play more but then cannon died and i was sad. anyway im open now for re-pkay campaing and would be happy to see this stuff. could you pls share where to dl it? Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Subscan on July 20, 2010, 12:18:22 PM ok,
what a pity :-( but I really hope you get this fixed! the campaign is a lot of fun, and i'd love to see more of it! Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on July 30, 2010, 10:30:49 AM I liked making the missions so that is probably what Ill be looking into fixing I Get back from my vacation!
Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: alavet on August 18, 2010, 10:02:32 AM i finished standard DO campaing recently and tried Expanded one.
Ive got a bug at mission where Fire mage joins you (necromancer). There is appearing some wolf regiments but they dont have banner. They attack me but dont deal damage and you cant attack them as well. After they charge they move through my army and moving aroudn and charge again. very strange somehow one of such regiment is died eventually. the second one i didnt noticed cause i had to go and turned off PC. but still very strange. Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Flak on August 19, 2010, 11:45:38 PM i have seen this kinda glitch before in my own testing,
in my case it was due to a zombie regiment who was spose to be raised from the ground and if one of them zombie regiments dont have a zombie sprite as the leader they become a bannerless regiment who behaves in the way you describe alavet Title: Re: Dark Omen Expanded Post by: Grend on August 20, 2010, 07:50:29 PM I know, just charge at them
