Myself and Villetrettenmeth both love to play with the Excellent DOC111 mod armies

(see download section) that provides all single player Units into Multiplayer

Such as Dread King, Steam Tank and many more...

As it's all Good Fun!

and also play with 63000gc to Max out all Units in experience and armour.

Villetrettenmeth will provide some initial Tornament Structure.

Perhaps we could host the modded 6300gc Tournament on a Modded exisiting Map such as The Brettonian River Crossing. We could alter the deployment zones(switch to different ends of the maps) and re-texture the Map to Egyptian.

Then use the DarkOmen Text Map Editor, to drop in some Pyramids and Jewel on the island. Also combining Byrus Blood River idea for both Rivers and Switch to Night Time which will all add new Tactics into an existing Map.

A great Taster of the Potential Power of the  New Dark Omen Map Editor.

Excellent Question..

All Magic Items and their Effects appear in

C:\Program Files\Dark Omen\GameData\Particle

as they are listed in

PAR_LIB file.

Some Magic Spells use both Sprite (.spr) and 3D Model (.m3d) files.

Wizard/Shamen etc Spells use DarkOmen M3D models as well.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\pc\Dark Omen\GameData\Furnture\Bright

Including the Fireball .M3D file object

(The Muti-Coloured Shape)

Smiley

Therefore it only requires a new Magic Model to be created in Blender.

(and then to kindly ask Rob to write a Dark Omen 3d Model Exporter for Blender, Free 3d Modelling Software,
not necessary until we have some Models Built, ready to Export) This is the same principle for creating our Own buildings.

For example the Goblin Shamen Magic 3d model in Blender, ready to alter and create new Magic Item.
(Bouncing Squig etc)

The focus would then have to be on recreating the Swords and their Magic

from Shadow of The Horned Rat.

2197  Modifications / Tools / Re: Mdose Sprite/WH2Edit Stats Editor by Mikademus on: September 01, 2008, 10:43:04 PM
To Give a new Unit STATS using WH2Edit

1) Goto SmurfResources Applications

2) Copy WH2EDIT to the main Dark Omen Folder C:\Program Files\Dark Omen

3) Double click it then press enter and accept the default path

4) Press Esc and a purple screen should now appear

5) Press F10

6) Load Human

7) Choose the letter "a" to load a unit

Cool Press F12 to see advanced stats

9) Alter accordingly and attach new Sprite

10) Final touches are new banner and Animation Portrait to overwrite an existing unit, so for example we base Chaos on Undead to use banner as they fight Dwarf army that already use changed Human Banners.

2203  Modifications / Maps / Examining the CTL Files on: August 20, 2008, 10:09:06 PM
CTL

Mikademus/Bembelimen and Myself have been examining the CTL Files.

Mikademus:-

"There are sections to the CTL files.

All start with 32 00 00 00, which we can assume to be a file version or ID number

The file seems to consist of a number of sections, each delimited by a FF FF FF FF value.

Some CTL files have the last section identified by FF FF FF nn, though, so the last byte could be a section type indicator

The FF FF FF FF marks the start of a new section

So every block, including the block start DWORD (0xFFFFFFFF) consists of coordinate values

because the size of the block divided by 12 is always an even number.

And why 12 you ask?

Well, 12 is the size of a dword (4) * the dwords in a coordinate triple (3)

Perhaps it could also be 2D coordinates. The size of a block excluding the FFFFFFFF intro divided by 8 is always an even number".

[[TESTS]]

Simple Tests using the CTL file other Maps,

has shown that CTL files dictate where the starting points of enemy AI units are.

Although in early testing, it appears that it may dictate where off map units are placed.

For example, swapping B204.CTL with B101.CTL produced:-

As can be seen, the Goblins have now started in the Village and the Peasants are now up on the Cliff.

More tests to follow, as all information will contribute to the Map Editor and beyond.

Especially Rob's new BTB Editor.

Smiley

Therefore allowing new Single Player Campaigns to be created,

where the enenmy, who can already be switched between Races

will now be able to appear in different locations, that will catch even the most experienced

Player out.
