I) CREATE a sprite sheet with INSTANTSPRITE

a) group your bmp files in the same folder : as you have identify the bmp file forming a column in the same animation sprite sheet (Example : put all the files forming laying dead pose in the same folder)

b) assembling a column by selecting bmp files into a single image with http://instantsprite.com/
select your 8 files and use the follwing option ( offset 0px / vertical steering / png / ) after drop the picture in folder or right click save the picture

c)  repeat the proceed if the annimation sprite sheet have more column

d) you have your sprite sheet down in png file

II) RESIZING  with Photoshop

open the png file in PHOTOSHOP

2) resizing the image by 150%: go to image / picture size or right clik failure of the window open in Photoshop file (use bicubic resample picture and constrain proportions and change size of the picture by 150%
3) save the image in TGA: Example (copy image.tga)

IV ) ANTILISING with gimp

A question.
You use Photoshop for resizing. But Gimp can also resize pictures. Do you mean that Gimp's resizing quality is worse than that of Photoshop?
Same question about other tools. Everything they do is also doable by Gimp. Is it the quality of Gimp that you do not like?

ya gimp make ugly antilising during scaling up

also photoshop macro or script for multiple files is more easy to use

the color reduction is also way better with ifranviewer

side note : my bro is close to finish a progam tools to make sprite sheet from SOTHR more easy and quick

I followed Illidan's instruction to convert Rat Ogre to DO sprite.
Everything was fine till I reached step 'remove fat contour' with GIMP.

Here is what I have after I resized sprite sheet with Photoshop:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/bmgvy441oddmxsn/RatOgre_31.tga?dl=0

(Rat Ogres even before resizing have the same size as Dark Omen Trolls, so I might as well not enlarge them at all. But if I make other sprites, it will be important to pass this step)

But after I make picture indexed with 256 colors and turn back to RGB, the cotnour does not disappear or does not change at all rather. What am I doing wrong?

And another question, I seem cannot find Ifran Viewer in Internet. Could someone share it with me? The next step will be to use it to reduce 256 colors to 16...By the way, why cannot that be done in GIMP?
