YOU CAN USE AS MUCH ARMIES AS YOU WANT, AS LONG THAT THEY FIT THE RULES AND THE FACTION YOU HAVE TO USE

How does this tournament work

Here is a little description, how this tournament work:

A few days ago Flak drew a Factions fixture (http://forum.dark-omen.org/tournaments/tournament-may-t313.0.html;msg1969#msg1969). So this means, that in this tournament the choice of the faction is NOT free. At the 28th Flak will draw the group 1 - 4. After that, you can see which faction you HAVE TO use in the battle.

For example, if you're player 8 in group 3, then you have to use Alliance in your first and Orc in your second fight. After that the first faction in the Intermediate Heats depends on your result in Round 1:

Group 3 Place 1 => Necro in the first, Vamp in the seconds and Allied in the thirds battle of the Intermediate Heats
Group 3 Place 2 => Empire in the first, Empire in the seconds and Merc in the thirds battle of the Intermediate Heats
Group 3 Place 3 => Empire in the first, Orc in the seconds and Necro in the thirds battle of the Intermediate Heats

In the semi final you have to use either Alliance or Necromancer (depends also on your result in the intermediate heats)

In the final you have to use Goblin or Merc.

Hello I am totally new and so easy canon fodder for you experienced guys but love to play in your tournament. Pls sign me up :)

But since it's my first tournament i was thinking about you need to download anything like patches or balance stuff ? and can it be found on the site ?  :)

Yeah, rulesets :) 5000/15 is really refined by now and with the lessons from the last tournament looks to be a very fine and balanced set of rules. Also, we have the new FACTIONS rules and the DOST rulesets, both which might be highly entertaining. Yet another option is taking the new experiences and creating a 7000 gold ruleset or update and try the 9000 gold rules laid out on the wiki.

The only thing you have to install is the Map Patch (http://en.dark-omen.org/downloads/view-details/2.-modifications/1.-maps/map-patch.html) (it will not replace your original files except Battles.Eng).
The Rulesets don't need any modifications (you can find them in the Wiki (http://wiki.dark-omen.org/do/DO/Rules/)

And I added you to the Tournament-Memberlist.

I hope, we can use the FACTION, I think we'll decide it around ~15. May

I got confirmed that a trainingsday for fantasy team Belgium is on the 30th. I really can't miss this because there is another person who wants the last spot on the team so I won't be able to participate in the tournament.  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ I was really excited about the factions (not sure though or its balanced or not).

Now that is a shame

but there will be another month

by the way i personally strongly against using factions for our torunament. i see factions disbalanced like hell, the empire and goblins the only have chance to survive and another factions either little or much more weaker, depending of their opponent.

not only cause of disbalance but for reasons i mentioned before in factions thread.

Don't forget that 5k/15 was also not that balanced so we played many tournaments with it and discussed after them what could be changed. Now it is a really nice ruleset. (I'm btw also bored about always the same tournaments, why not trying something else?)

So why shouldn't we give FACTIONS a chance? After the tournament you can still say what piece of crap (or how brilliant) it is :P.
It looks a bit imba ok, but I haven't build my final opinion for now (I will tell you after the FACTIONS-Tournament)

well i gues that frankly speaking because i pushed so much enthusiasm to build 5k rules and now i feel that rules very good and balanced a lot. :D

but i dont have any real idea what kind of army might be a winning for Necromancer faction, how to beat Goblins with orcs (except lucky mortair shot on the horn keeper), how to beat alliance with anything, and possibly another bunch of questions which we appeared after few more games for me with another factions...
you may see my other arguments in factions thread.

im not against taking something new, especially something reallyu new (as this idea) but if its obv that its not balanced for me then i dont like it. maybe im wrong. maybe its better to create a poll (or whatever its spell correctly dont have dicitonary over me :D))

btw nothing personal Dj i just mean you need much more balance and it will be boring  after tens battles thats all..

We'll make it this way:

In the next few days, I will finish the main fixture. Then Flak will draw the factions for the fixture (independent from the player), so we:

• 1. avoid that all player use one faction. So we'll have a random game
• 2. are sure, that all factions will be played.

After that, Flak will draw the player (~3 days before the tournament starts) and then you have ~3 days time to create your armies.

I hope, this way makes all player satisfied and I hope you'll give the ruleset a chance.

So the tournament comes closer and we set the time: it will be 5pm gmt +0 (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e7/Timezones2008.png). So this means NOT: join at 5pm gmt+0, this means: we'll start at 5pm gmt +0, so please join some minutes before!!

Additionally we offer new player the possibility to check the connection before the tournament. We'll be online from 4pm gmt+0. Feel free to join earlier for asking questions, request help or check connections.

epic moment of the battle with tovertut: after i killed skeleton archer regiment i had 1 mage and 1 scorpion; tovertut launched ray for my scorp and killed him, but at the same moment i launched ray to his necros as well and won. sorry its just dead bodies but anyway :D
