Greetings Warlords!

I'm on a new mission to create a campaign and i need your help to find bugs, oversights or terrible mistakes.
Before i explain the complicated install procedure some infos about the mod. A bit more in detail.

Mod Info

I changed my mind about the horrible story. Its now back to the original one with the voices, movies and all the cool stuff making sense.
The good news is that i read a thread with a post from some Darkomen developer and some problems about cutting out things, making the campaign linear and other things i forgot already. But the important part is the idea, to have choices.
And here comes the "new" way to edit the campaign script handy.

At the campaign script is my current focus. So there are little to no changes to the original missions and my Rise of the Dead mod missions are used here and there for more challenge and to increase the missions number. So this mod will have lots of missions to fight, or lose.

The way of the army progression also changes. You don't get units automaticly, you need to buy them. Same to some magic items. Changing the campaign script made it possible. Maybe not in the best way, but you will see it soon.
Its text based and yes, its the "Helmgart yes/no" used over and over and over again.

Some side effect of adding units and removing gold from the player is that there is no remove gold command. I can only add gold. So how to remove gold? Well add enough to get a 16bit rollover  ;D
This is quite important. Now you need to count and check by yourself if you got enough gold to buy stuff. To make it simple, don't spend more gold than you got or its pretty much an exploit. Can't do something about it. ???

Install

Step 1
The mod requires the Mod Selector from Ghabry. Would be best if you also take the Sample Files to have an idea how everything looks like.

Step 2
Download my Rise of the Dead 2 Beta.zip from TinyUpload.com

Step 3
Unpack the Zip. You will see "Rise of the Dead 2 Beta" folder. Open it.
Now you have 2 different folders "GameData" and "Mods"
Mark them and copy them.

Now open your Dark Omen folder and you see all your Dark Omen files like:

GameData
Graphics
Mods
MOVIES
PRG_ENG
SAVEGAME

Now do a paste.

The content of my both folders "GameData" and "Mods" gets included into the original "GameData" and the Mod Selectors "Mods" folder.

Now you can start the game and select the "Rise of the Dead 2 Beta" in the Modselection.

Feedback


I need feedback on difficulty and army progression. Basicly how is your army doing.
What units did you buy and which missions did you chose.
Are you poor or have to much gold?
Could i name options(strings) better to improve the, you know, "Roleplaying".
Pls try to not spoil to much if possible.


Other Modders

If you have a map ready and want it included please let me know. We could use them as extra or side missions. There is like endless space to add more.

Totally amazing and a huge campaign that will keep me going for ages!

Well done and big thanks from us all. I will post some feedback as I progress  through it but so far very cool indeed.

I will crack on making some new maps and would be great to combine some of our new sprites into it as well

Ok im managed to get the select mod option up on the title screen, but its greyed out.

Any ideas as im sure my Dark Omen directory layout is correct ?

Rename your Dark Omen PRG_ENG folder to PRG_ENGOrig to save and avoid overwriting it and download/extract these 3 new folders into your Dark Omen folder - armytmp, PRG_ENG and Mods.

It comes with a new PRG_ENG folder containing 2 versions of EngRel.exe named 3D and not3D so rename them back to EngRel.exe before using, depending if you can run 3D or just CPU. If running 3D and using Win 7, set screen resolution to 16bit and if Win8 then right click on EngRel.exe and set compatibility to Run in 16bit colour and 640x480 Screen Resolution and Run as Administrator.

There are also different versions of darkpatch.dll for Win7 and Win8 to rename and test in the new PRG_ENG folder. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

*For GameRanger Multiplayer - use DO Orig mod and manually copy and paste your custom army001.ARM file from
 
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dark Omen\Mods\DO Orig\GameData\2parm

into the DO Orig mod folder armytemp folder

C:\Program Files (x86)\Dark Omen\Mods\DO Orig\armytmp

and rename it to player0 if you are the Host or player1 if you are joining a Hosted game

So far so good but been busy with 3D Portrait Heads, can't wait to carry on the Campaign though.

Meh, should have read the first post before playing xDD

First BIG THANKS TO OLLY  :-\ for giving me the current Mod Selector with Mods and helping me with getting it started :)

I just bought Merc Inf and Imperial Bowmen and Grudgebringer Sword leaving 1250 (also because cannon is too expensive) and played the three missions after Trading Post (without Orc camp ofc ^^). Although Fanatics killed half of my Cav in the third mission, I even survived that one; however i lost ~700 gold overall ...

... atm it seems to me, that it would be great to earn some more money. Is repeating trading post meant to be possible?^^

hari8, you got the wrong version. This was a very first test i send to Olly in a private message.

Yes i had the plan to have loops but it turned those into a "grind" to get easy gold, so i removed the idea.
The Trading Post is currently not available. The campaign starts after it. Your first 2 missions to chose from are a) help Carlson with the trouble in the south or b) help to defend Helmgart. Ofc after your visit in Altdorf and the chance to spend some gold.

I'm not sure if i should release the next update because i need some more feedback. There are a lot of, how to say, possibilies how someone may get along. The gold rewards are the most important part as you don't get most units for free anymore and still need to fill them up.

@thelastarmada, did you also download the files from Ollys Dropbox?
If not, then try to help Carlson first. Going direct to Helmgart is more difficult.

Oh well, I played the first missions there too, but I dont remember how things went  :-\
I bought MercInf, cannon and archers. Plus, i had enough money to buy flagellants in Grissburg and Bright Wizard back in Altdorf.
I just played Brigant attack and Helmgart. The first one is perfectly ok resp. pretty easy, even with the necro spelling shitloads of purple stuff :D Helmgart is quite strange, them auto-attacking support units are very difficult to handle if you dont want them to blast your own army ... plus several screaming skulls hit MercInf and killed my wizard. Incl. 5Altdorf I have just about army in full strengh and 300 gold atm. Now i replay Helmgart.

Ok, everything cool, plus I almost gained some gold. Next mission was no problem too, but did you change anything there ?! Then I used my savings to buy Bigswords; the mission after Kemperbad was ok, though I lost some horsemen to Fanatics (I'll retry from this mission, but I dont want my guys to get shot by those shotgun-archers :D). I survived Steamtank-mission without steamtank too, but I wasn't able to check if them archers behind me are still carrying anything valuable ;)

What do you want to update? Further modded chapters? I saw Blighted Towers provide more enemies than in the original game ...

Apologies for any confusion I will reinstall and upload again. I think that the mods only work with English version of Dark Omen (EngRel.exe in PRG_ENG) and I do remember Hari8 having German version.

If you aren't too far along then I would advise reinstalling English version and retrying the mods as Malus says "Your first 2 missions to chose from are a) help Carlson with the trouble in the south or b) help to defend Helmgart"

I have noticed some missions does not work properly, but maybe they simply arent ready? For example the helmgart mission, if you are delayed (as in not defending) you simply get a black screen. But perhaps this is not finished yet, or is there something wrong on my end?

Switch to cpu mode instead of 3d mode in game options as there is an old sprite not compatible with the new 3d mode.

Yeah something is def off, all my savegames disappeared over night apparently for some reason.. I can select mods still, but they are not applied. Im gonna do a reinstall after work and see if it gets any better.
