Is it possible to create additional items without replacing any of the old ones? The nes items could just be clones of already existing ones, but with original names, descriptions and icons in the book. Is there am editable file that tells the engine which item does what and what icon it uses, or is it hardcoded inside the exe?

Not yet but Aqrit is aware that such an extra magic table would have to be created, just like his other xslots for banners, sprites, 3d heads etc. Then EngRel.exe can be instructed to branch off to load this custom table via his ddraw.dll code, combined with Ghabry's darkpatch.dll that would load all the new magic graphics within a new Mod. It is of course at the top of our wish list, since we have now created new Races (Dark Elves, Skaven, Dwarfs & Wood Elves) including their Sprites, Banners, 3d Heads and 3d maps, so could really do with giving them their own Magic.
