Im currently making map in warcraft 3 editor with single idea: make a map where you control squads, not single units.
For the moments - everuthing going ok and it will be done some day.

Races (names still in development):
1. Empire Union: elves & humans
2. Warriorz Clan: orcs & trolls
3. Shadow Alliance: mostly night elves
4. Undead legion: only undead

Pros:
+up to 4 peoples in single battle. (including 2vs2)
+very convenient controls (first squad you buy binds for F1, second for F2 and so on. press one time for troops selection, second time to centre screen on that regiment).
+many things will be the same (manual control of artillery & archers, etc.).
+variety of magic items; some troops have special abilities; racial bonuses and other features.

Cons:
-maximum regiment size = 13 due to warcraft ]l[ restrictions.
-360 degree troop vision (im still working on this, but its basic war3 vision degree).
-no bonusses from the rear/side attack.
-near primitive battle system (it will be improved by the time).

I wouldnt post here for no reason, i need some help (its not related with editor or creating something).

If i will not find a solution about removing 360 degree vision, what can be other solution?
Also, i can miss some important things while making map, if you have some interest or at least ideas, i will gladly hear them.

When map will be released i can post gameplay video here (2vs2 battle).

Good or not, map will use its own troop stats system.

For Melee/Ranged** troops:
1)Members. Number of regiment size. [number of soldiers+leader]
2)Offensive. Melee/Ranged battle skill. [(all members dmg/attack delay)/all members))*10]
3)Defensive. Level of survivability. [all members HP*(regiment max morale/100)]
4)Armour. Chance of full damage block. [fixed %]
5)Speed. Regiment movement speed. [fixed value]
6)Vision. Regiment vision sight. Displays both day/night vision.

For artillery troops***:
1)Crew. Number of escort crew. [number of soldiers, not include artillery unit itself]
2)Power. Overall power of artillery unit. [damage/reload delay)
3)Range. Fire distance information. Displays minimum range and maximum range.
4)Armour. Chance of full damage block. [fixed %]
5)Speed. Regiment movement speed. [fixed value]
6)Vision. Regiment vision sight. Displays both day/night vision.

**Ranged regiments (archers, etc.) dont have any melee. They just cant strike back melee troops.
***Artillery crew is X race standart infantry. X - any race.]

Warcraft 3 allow unit to carry up to 6 items. In fact, this makes possible to make dozens of interesting items for them to choose (there will also be weak items to spare little gold left).

The real negative thing is - only thing connecting dark omen and map is that you command squads. Game style is different.
In case of 360 degree vision, i made recon units (light infantry regiment in all races, except orcs). They have Good sight range, slightly better speed (than normal infantry) but worse battle skill.

All in all this system is not much informative but it makes regiment comparing easier for begginers.
First test battle would be 1vs1 Empire VS S.Alliance [date still cant be revealed].
