Dawn of Fantasy is a good mix of Total War, Warrior Kings Battles, Dark Omen, Myth2, Stronghold and especially Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth.

Its one of the only Persistant World Fantasy RTS games that I know of which plays like Dark Omen, such as solid formations (unlike Mark of Chaos, thank God!) and has dwarves, Elves, Orcs, Dragons etc and offer great Dev Patches and enhancements, such as the upcoming 6 player mode and more magic.  Sadly my pc can barely play it but I will post some vids soon.
