1786  Warhammer Dark Omen / Rules and Standards / Re: Back to the Roots (BTTR) on: March 07, 2010, 09:18:21 PM
Looks good but

- Some Units are reduced to 2 Units max: Black Grail, Archers, Artillery

Your rule allows 2 units of BGK, 2 elven archers, 2 mortors/lobbers, so no one would ever use cannon or other lesser arty/archers and all other units can be spammed (many of same unit).

However I have found,

- Only 2 of same character allowed, except Super Units, then only 1 of each - 1Mortor, 1 cannon/lobber, 1 BGK , 1 Elven Archer etc.. -"can now include Mages".

Prevents this and is a tried and tested method.

Ive got various dwarves(armoured, crossbow etc) that can easily be enhanced further in various combinations but im kinda busy with 3d scenary at the moment(Castle/Fortress) but for sure when i get some time, i'll dig them out and make them available for download. Although Grend has taken them one step further to create Dwarf Slayer,Thunderers and some amazing Chaos Dwarves!

I like the simplicity and freedom but to prevent lameness, I would add 1 more Rule - >

Only 2 of same character allowed, except Super Units, then only 1 of each - 1Mortor, 1 cannon, 1 BGK , 1 Elven Archer etc..

Many of you may already be familar with this, since I have used this quick ruleset on many new players and it does prevent alot of problems, as it is simple to follow and allows freedom, until they have time to read and learn our other rulesets.

Brapus/Itlerion is probably the youngest of us all and combined with his fiery passion for Dark Omen, it still doesn't give him the right to be rude and has now been told he is on a final warning about his unacceptable behavior.

None of us would like to see him banned, especially with all the hard work he has done but now understands he must think carefully before he writes stuff.

Harsh but Fair

First game against Gemmell76 was so close, as he won with just 1 screaming skull catapult crew left, hehe

I had to arrow my own men to kill his off the Black Grail Knights

1800  Modifications / 2D Sprites / Idle Sprite Animations on: February 11, 2010, 12:22:11 PM
Some Sprites have Idle Sprite Animations like the Flames of the Undead Screaming Skull Catapult and possibly Steam Tank and Goblin Fanactics.

Watch my old Webcam Vid of Dark Omen running in Full 3D Mode and skip to 58:00mins

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1306976

When stationary the Flames are still animated even though the sprite is not moving - so us mod team are investigating how to replicate this for possible new sprite animations, to use for the Flicking Tongue of a Wyvern, when stood still or even the Plume of Helmet in the Breeze etc.. it would allow many possibilties to enhance and make more detailed Characters. For now though, simply re-use the original Screaming Skull sprite for testing, until we crack it.
