Great News!

Today the Medieval 2 Total War Call of Warhammer Mod team have granted me permission to use their excellent 3d Character Models, to rotate and pose for new Dark Omen sprites. They will provide a fantastic Template to follow and can be reduced down to 16 colours.

I will be Posting a Guide in how to use MilkShape and Photoshop to view the 3d Models and screen shot them.

I would love Grend's help to organise any initial Races to concentrate on, such as High Elf etc.. to possibly add or combine with Dark Omen Expanded and of course Lord Brapus' own efforts. In exchange i will be providing the Call of Warhammer Mod team any of my newly commissioned 3d Scenery such as

This first example is by Nik Richards and is 2048x2048 Texture Sheet
http://www.nikrichards.me.uk/Tudor.htm

and this one is by Ahmet Ünveren and is 1024x1024

as I have asked them to recreate/enhance some Shadow of The Horned Rat Houses, before commencing Fortress/Castles

Now, what I am truly interested in knowing is if this includes the skeleton animations for the models? If so, yeah, great things will happen both in DO modding and remake development!

They do include their own Skeleton Animations.

This could get pretty awesome indeed, but it will still require the most boring and time consuming part of making sprites (imo) copying all those frames, and fitting them so it looks good ingame with the correct slots and the correct number of frames! That`s what kills me when making sprites, as after all your hard work, the end result may look bad because you made it to fit a bad slot..

I quite agree Grend but since there is only myself, you, Brapus and now Darkmancer making sprites, then at least these "will provide a fantastic Template to follow"  and give an outline of position and poses that should make life easier. The 3d models can also be imported as statues or usefull as Victims on Spikes adorning the Castle Walls, execution scenarios etc.. but I fully comprehend it doesn't avoid the lenghtly process of reducing colours and adjusting each frame of 120 approx, as we all appreciate how talented and patient the original Artists were to hand draw them all. Hopefully my completed guide can assist any future new members, who can't draw but want to help create new sprites. We will see how well this goes, as better to have than have not i hope and full respect to your own magnificent creations.
