Hello friends

my new project that ive been working on secretly and will hopefully soon be able to present is something i like to call Dark Omen Conquest.

It is a strategy boardgame style war game.

It is Risk or A&A for Dark Omen

It is a chance to conquer the world, by using 3 skills Strategy, Tactics and Cunning

There are 8 Nations to pick from, from 3 races.
7 of the Nations will seem familiar to you if you know Factions but there is one new Nation also

Victorious Armies will gain glory and XP, and go on from fight to fight. Lost armies has to be rebuild

Capitols, Army Depot's and Unique Unit Depot's has to be conquered and defended.

The way i currently figure it will be 1-3 days per turn depending on player speed
The game is Simultaneous Turn based with 6 orders to be carried out per turn

Orders:
1. Diplomacy
2. Moves/Attack
3. Battle
4. Post Battle Upgrade
5. Re-fit Unmoved Armies
6. Create & Place New Armies

Im unsure of how long each other or turn will take, its very much up to the players.
My guess is that the first 3 orders take the longest time, as for the bottom 3 can be done fast and can be done same day as the battles take place.
Maybe something like this, Monday is Order 1, Tuesday Order 2, Wednesday Order 3,4,5,6
as the game goes on order 1 will be less time consuming and maybe it can be down to 2 days per turn.

Id also like to hear seriously how many would be interested in joining this game, i hope to launch next week or in the weekend.
It required some extra time spend on the DO board maybe more than some of you spend atm but i hope the game will want you to increase the time spend here.

The Game book will be released soon and i intent to give it a go with who ever is interested. The game is suited for 8 players but it can be adapted to how many i get to join.

So who would be interested?

oh wow after just 2 hours 2 people interested hehe  ;D

Grend i understand, i dont expect it to be hours a day but 10-30 mins or so should cover plenty

Malus i think it will be random what side you get, but i guess if everyone can agree to share then no problem in having a just deciding instead and having a favorite is always good  :)

Im gonna test some of the army build possibilities tonight to see how they do against regular 5000/15 armies 8)

and from these tests i will adjust the rules and post the Game Book tonight or tomorrow ;D

lol no alavet we will not remove Diplomacy, not at first anyway, you can be aggressive and pretend not to know Diplomacy that is your choice  ::)

the DL files is army files, they will follow shortly as i have a few adjustments to make still but im 95% done with the files

Lol warhammerfreak i thourght that you were busy for the next month or i would not have replaced you?

great to see that there is more and more people interested, give me a little time to see what the turn out of the current turn is before i figure out how to add you guys, but already now find out if you will have sufficient time to play, that means checking online daily and having time to play battles around every 2nd day.
If this is ok then consider your nation and start testsing a few armies out, also join the conquest channel

An idea has been nagging at me for quite some time.

To attempt a new Conquest but with the DOE armies, and a slightly different format/rules.
I am thinking of less importance of Depot's and more importance of having a big empire rather than to aim just for the enemy Depots. Maybe use a gold coin system and tax system and a random component for events to challenge the players, such as revolt's and blizzard's.

But before i start to devote many hours to develop this is anyone at all still interested in a another game?

this may not be helpful but may I suggest looking at the online ruleset for forgotten realms turned base play by mail game? some of the moves were things like movement per round(calvary had more movement rates E.T.C)and battle took place in phases(magic/missle fire/melee)juz sayin to check may give some ideas.

its not exactly like PBEM as all armies and battles are Dark Omen battles and all armies build in Dark Omen, only army moves on the map are turn based if you look at the 2 previous games youll get the jist of how it works

ive gotten the go ahead to use DOE for Conquest, so im on it now for real

ill give some hints of the changes:
*Gold is gained by land conquest and building cities and mines, land and cities and mines are taxed
*Forts to improve chances of defense can be build in any land
*3 different way of attacking: Conquest, Pillage and Raid
*Armies are created from the gold earned in tax so army ranges will be 3-7k
*More complete diplomacy and possibility of revolts if the player rules badly
*DOE and all nations can be used

opinion: hey flak, are u sure ppl could play so long to finish it, even for single player this map seems zomghuge (i.e. 25-30 turns to finish at least) i think if you could make map which could be finished in 10-15 turns that would be just enough

the number of available lands will be changed depending on how many will want to play
if only a few wants to play we will only use 1/4 of the map or 1/3  ;)

i am progressing well, the ruleset itself is done, now im re-viewing the nations and adjusting a few edges and adding one unit to nations with too few choices and adjusting prices in accordance with what worked in the previous conquest
