• Every player creates 3 armys with different races (1 empire, 1 greenskin, 1 undead)
• You have to use this 3 armys and you're not allowed to create more or use others.
• You can use every army 3 times in the whole tournament
• NEW RULE: You're not allowed to have more than 3 eqal regiments (for example 4 ghouls are NOT allowed)

Last sign up day is February 25th 4pm gmt +0. Fixtures will be official on the ~26th.

May I suggest due to earlier slight issues with time that people change thier individual forum time(see top leftside corner) to 0 gtm (can be changed in "look and layout), that way you will be able to monitor the time that the tournament is based on, instead of having to calculate the possible time zones.

Tournament players guide.
Stage 1. The 8 players have been divided into 2 groups. 1 battle is played vs the other 3 group members.
Stage 2. The no. 1 and 2 in each group will qualify for the Semi Finals and no. 3 and 4 will drop into the battle for 5-8th place. In stage 2 & 3 all battles are best of 3.

Same procedure as every month herr bembe ;)

I dont know if its a problem or theres a mood for it. Do we need a rule for when the last man left is a mage with teleport and keeps blitzing the enemy until the mage single handed has killed all the troops.

If you guys see it as a problem then a rule sayn that the mage has to be able to fight of the last units in combat to win fairly.

Please comment on your thoughts

I'm in have to protect my first place ;).

In 9000/NoRule fights me and bembe had the following rule:
The mage has to go in closed combat (or at least don't teleport anymore).

But the problem in 3k/10 is that you only have a mage with 2 (or 3) spells so you also invest points to have the small change to get teleport and if you have you've most likely won and if not you'll most likely lose (See my fights against beggie e.g.)

its kinda wasted spell if you win.

I had it twice but both times i think i had eleven archers so the mage was killed after just 2 or 3 strikes, but if you have 3 dwarven regiments left alone with a mage, i think anyone would get hugely frustrated

Hi. I am the noob here. Still I'd like to participate. Due to work reason, I am only available during the weekend. The other days I might have one free late evening or two, but it's quite random, so don't count on that.

No, that's why we play with unmodified army lists. That means all units are as they are in the game, and we balance them with our point system.

The Months ends at the 28. So there is no night from 28 to 29 ;).
And Kuja, don't double post, there is a edit button (for 15minutes after posting)

Mika was right, you don't have to update something, but we will play with a map patch, so you have to add new files (but this will not overwrite old one)

I'd like to suggest that we move to 5000/15 rules this time to allow somewhat more powerful armies now that we are a bit more experienced with the game! :)

I propose the h/ex regiments for the next tournament (March). :)

Let's make certain we have balance-tested any additional units before we allow them in tournament, and have a good ("official" :P ) patch that we know works. But yeah, eventually we will extend with the rest of the units in the game that aren't currently available for MP, like Hand of Nagash and the Dread King. Who's up for a Dread Kind army? o/

again hehe i agree with Mika, what we dont want is an unreliable patch so that games crash nothing would be worse in a tournament.

The 5k/15 would be ok for me.


Yeah we can use them, BUT I would like to see all units from singleplayer and your half/1.5 armys in the next tournament. Could you contact Ghabry/Olly/Flak or Mikademus so you can merge all your files? I think that would be very cool. Otherwise we have to change the patch every month, when we add new stuff so we should try to make one big patch.

btw: I will write the news on friday, I havn't the time before.

Yeah, that's because of them missing animation frames, because the sprite format was incompletely understood back then. We should be able to make them working perfectly now.

Haha, other people made the sprites, but it was I who deciphered the sprite format and made the programs they used to make the sprites. So it is probably ultimately my fault that the sprites were unstable D:

first time playin in  tourney, used to play back when it was new and im back, wil need to learn the rules, anyone up for a game just try check chat if im on but you have to know im in NZ (New Zealand) for those who dont know :P so its diff time for me

you are welcome to join in, i can understand that your time frame is different 17:00 here would make it 05:00 in New Zealand i believe but if your up for it then please join in. Im sure you can catch somebody in the chat to have a test with

We have to set the time to 6pm, cause some player (me/olly e.g.) cannot join earlier.... I hope that's ok for everyone.

since more points are availiable should we consider allowing level 2 mages to be used with the cost of the mage doubled

LvL 2 mage+Book of Ashur+Wand of Jet? How do you wanna stop them? If you allow lvl2 mages you have to push other units too. And then we have to recreate the whole rules within 8 days with testing etc. Sounds not as good for me

Crossbows are no problem for a mage (the change for teleport is quite high with Ashur and LV2)
And I'm also against LV2 mages. What about a LV2 Vampire with Zombie Cast Spell... Then you always have to buy a Horn of Urgok :/ (3 Points!). But imo the zombies are then the smallest problem ;)

We added an additional regiment restriction (only 3 equal regiments are allowed). See the first message (http://forum.dark-omen.org/tournaments/tournament-february-t200.0.html;msg904#msg904) for more informations

What was the problem with 4+ same regiment?

Agreed, it should be ok with a greenskin army of only ork boys f.i, but we should have some restriction against certain unit types, like only three archer units or something.

After selecting my new Greenskin Army for 5000/15 when i found myself picking 4 Orc biguns as they

were the natural choice to have and kind of made me not want to select any of the lesser used units

that would actually increase Tactics and Gameplay etc..


So its good that now I may have to Purchase a Spider/Boar or Orc Boyz with an Item.

Hi all :).

(Sorry if my English is really poor :S).

I think this is a good change. It make the new games more strategy than later.

And i propose a new change.
It is about powerfull items like Horn or Lighting Banner.
I think this items counter the real strategy experience in the game.
For example, 2 calvary unit with this can move arround all the map but without fight and win the game perfectly.
Well, only is a propuse :).

I disagree, I really think there's no problem to make an army with 5 times the same regiment. For all tactics, their are counter measures.
Davi, you talk about 2 cavalries with Horn/Banner of Wrath.
If your cavalry run near me, using his banner... I can touch it with my infantry with the same banner! And my infantry is cheaper than your cavalry, so i can have more troups, and can lose more men than you. There's the same thing for the Horn.

Some said that an archery army is very difficult to kill. Otherwise, Ptolos is a useful item, and, if i charge your bowmen/crossbowmen with the same number of infantry troops, I'm sure I will lost at least one troop. But the other will engage bowmen, and the fight will be very easy for contact troops.

Some said that Shaman/Necro/Wizards are deadly units. Nevertheless, " an arrow can end your wizard's life". Arcan banner, Spelleater Shield and Dragon Helm can dodge the wizards threat. And i don't talk about Mork banner or artillery.

Too many infantery soldiers can't win versus a Pistoliers troop if they don't got any magic item, like ptolos or, better, Arcana banner.

On Olly's picture, we can see many halbarder, but I guess they will die because of the archers and shaman.

To conclude, I think that making a clone army is a bad idea, because it's not a versatile army. Perhaps powerfull, but if your opponent have a threat you can't manage, you are dead.

Well, i think that all armies need to use items like Banner of Wrath and Horn to be competitive.

You say that is you have infantery with the same banner you win...and i think it is correct, but because you use the banner too. If you don't use it, my 2 cavalry units (pistoliers for example) with this banners are a powerful combination without strategy to win a game.

Conclusion: If all armies needs anything to be competitive then all armies will be competitive too if we forbide this items and use this resources (money) to buy real strategical units.

But only is my opinion :)

I agree with this assessment. After being convinced by Olly I also have changed my mind regarding three-of-a-kind. I think this should hold for any unit type, as well as archers, so you should only be allowed three archers, and no more than three identical units.

I don't see why we should put a limit to the "archer units".
I lost some battles with my crossbow, and I don't see what is unfair in an army of 2x arrez boys and 2x goblins archers.

only 3 of any unit is a challenge, so let us give it a go. If we discover that it makes the quality of the game poor then we can change it for next time

About the rule of "Not more 3 Archers and no more 3 equals", i think the tournament will be a great form to demostrate if the rules are good.

Respect the tournament :(....Olly, finally i think i will no can play the tournament...because i will celebrate my birthday this satursday afternon.

I don`t want to disturb anyone, but is it possible to play the tournament on another hour or day?

The "3xarchers rule" is not in the tournament (otherwise I would cry'n'whine a lot more).

this is the regular date and time and most people try to keep it clear so i think changing it could be very difficult

At the moment there is only "not more than 3 equal" but you can use for example 3 orc archers and 3 goblin archers. This rules force some player to use more different units, so I think it's a good idea. This tournament we'll not restrict the archers itself, let's see if it works (It did the last few tournaments).

After the tournament we'll change some points in the rules, cause we found some "errors" but this will not influence this tournament.


I'm sorry, but this is imho impossible. We have to play at the evening, because we have User from all over the world. And we need a time where everyone is woke up.
