Title: A few woodelf sprites
Post by: cuthalion on April 27, 2015, 04:26:59 PM
I used Illidan's link to http://d2mods.info/resources/infinitum/index-anims-ac.html (http://d2mods.info/resources/infinitum/index-anims-ac.html) and tried to make a few new sprites for wood elf army.
Here are first results, meet wild riders.

I have not found stag sprites so I had to use elks. Hope it is not too much of an apocryphal story: Anyways limitations Dark Omen game mechanics has will force me to use other stuff even less aligned with classic warhammer :)

Well, yeah. Also I downloaded Age of Wonders sprites you linked in another topic. There are interesting pictures of different kinds of wood elves and I may take something from there. Just I think that if we already have elven cavalry and infantry of acceptable quality level, I won't force myself to import same unit types.

Do you by chance have dual-wielding sprites? not necessarily elves :)

Glade Riders. A mixture of DO horse sprites and SoTHR wood elf archers.
I did not enlarge archer sprites as it seemed that mounted figures are somewhat smaller in DO than their infantry analogues, and also enlarged sothr elves were of worse quality.
SoTHR sprites lack range and clearness of movement, especially fighting sprites, so I had to substitute their small knives with more noticable blades wherever possible.

wow those are nice units I will definitely try them and see how they look after transferred to DO reality. :)

So I basically install FLICster, then download flc files for different units and export them to gimp-readable formation? somehow my gimp refuses to work with .flc even though it should

you have to launch flicster / open the flc files with flicster / and export you will have a sprite sheet for the annimation about 6 or 5 per zip file

it will give you pcx file you can use in gimps

Glade Riders look cool and having an Expanded Wood Elf army will be great!

:)

Could you give your expert opinion on wild riders? :) I mean, do you think either mounted figures or elks quality or fact that these are elks not stags or something else make sprites 'so so'?
