Hi and Welcome to the Dark Omen Community. Run in CPU mode if you desperate to play but 3d mode should work, if you do the following ->

Please locate your Dark Omen folder, such as

C:\Program Files\Dark Omen or C:\Program Files (x86)\Dark Omen

and rename these 2 folders -> PRG_ENG and Save Game to anything like PRG_ENGOrig and Save GameOrig

Then download this goody bag that contains many excellent mods & should allow full 3d mode

Enable the "Run in 640 x 480 Screen Resolution" on the compatibility tab to have a full-screen window.

:)

You need to set desktop resolution to 16bit colour and what model of NVidia graphics card do u have as really cheap ones can't do 3d.

Try turning off VSync from NVidia control panel, using Manage 3d application and setting for EngRel.exe

[attachment=1]

I had to do this on a Win 7 Alienware laptop once.

Try an English version of Dark Omen and did you copy and paste the 3 new downloaded folders into your Dark Omen folder. Then try running the new EngRel.exe from within the new PRG_ENG folder (or did u have a PRG folder?). The new EngRel.exe is a copy of the EngRel 3d Fix &Extreme Camera zoom & Overhead Map.exe which u should really rename to EngRel.exe when testing.

At least you can play the game in CPU mode while you download the English version, as I think I once helped another Russian fan who didn't have a PRG_ENG folder only a PRG and had to find an English version that did work.

Good luck as the NVidia 260 is a cheap card and may not work unfortunately.

Hi again. I bought a laptop Lenovo IdeaPad z5070 with a video card NVIDIA GeForce 840m and when you run it after the game saver menu does not appear and only the black background and the music plays. What could be the problem? After all, this is not a cheap graphics card.

You need the modfied EngRel.exe for windows 8 ill presume.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/content_link/yOlN1wvMsXXC8zIsxWnbKCeD9Sj6cGCBU5MZxW1rfaIivGgstCatxqsndbV3aeYI?dl=1

Download this and inside youll find a Prgeng folder containing 2 different EngRel.exe's one will say
EngRelNot3dRenametoEngRel.exe
the other
EngRel3dRenametoEngrel.exe

Grab the 3d one rename it to EngRel.exe and paste it to your Dark Omen directory in the Prg_Eng folder.

Next grab the windows 8 .dll file named darkpatchwin8.dll and put it in your Prg_Eng folder.

I agree with thelastarmada as it works on my Alienware Laptop with NVidia Geforce GT 650M but rename darkpatchwin8.dll back to darkpatch.dll (depending on your operating system).

Also my BitDefender Anti Virus actually auto quarantines the .dll file and renames it, until I allow it through. So uninstall your Antivirus. Also try turning off VSync from NVidia control panel (see earlier post).

Please let us know how u get on

:)

So read this -> and set your desktop to 16bit colour

http://forum.dark-omen.org/help-section/3d-mode-and-win87-dark-omen-t1164.0.html;msg12090#msg12090 (http://forum.dark-omen.org/help-section/3d-mode-and-win87-dark-omen-t1164.0.html;msg12090#msg12090)

Or your card might not be up to the challenge ->

(I can remote in and try to fix via logmein, just pop into our chat channel to ask)
