hi there, you see, what happened is this, imagine that yo are naked and then you put yourself a fiber glass chest or metalic chest, it is the same , in the way that the skin is touching the plate, so, then imagine you reciebe a super stick hit, what happens is what happen if you jump horizontaly way into water, you get of from the water and your skin is red, well, here the same but all the hit is concentred in place, and that place was the the bone near the shoulder :( , so , if i would not had the chest in that moment , thestick would cut the skin , but thanks to god that did not happen and i onl had a T-shirt under the armour, that was my bad :(

Ramiro, if you are using wooden poles 2.5 cm in diameter - you need for adequate protection of the body would be enough quilted frmor like this:

But if you prefer a rigid armor - you can use a thick tough lether or steel. Leather armor weighs about 5 kg and even protects the body from blows 2kg steel sword. Of course, it must also be put on light and thin padded protection

HI ninja, yea, in that pic, the chest design is basic, it protects all that we can call chest :P but no shoulder and it has not a solid tasset it only have padded one :S but look my last HARD HARD HARD PAPPER ARMOUR, was this, a VERY complete design, has you will se , it have nice tasset, and the chest is like the kevlar one,  (the above pic in last post of mine)  with 3 pieces :D.
