Hello, im new and just dug up this game.  Ive got it installed and am currently attempting to run it.  The game loads up and I can see the intro video, after its over the screen goes black and the music is playing.  However it just stops working right there.  The music plays and the screen is black and nothing happens, I cannot even alt+f4 or ctrl alt del.  I have to reset my system to get out.

i have a P4 2.4 with HT and a radeon 9200SE with the newest catalyst drivers available to the card. 512mb of ram.  the IP.exe thing says i need a 80586 to run it and i have a 0, could that be the problem?  I'm not sure, I would like to play the game very much.

Any help would be much appreciated and thank you for your time.

Welcome noobsauce

At this moment I updated the Dark Omen and Windows Vista Guide. The important thing is to change the settings on your first start. Otherwise it sets default settings and the game crashes. A workaround is to "install" the Intro Crash Fix, perhaps it repairs the Game.

Would be glad if you can give me a feedback, if it works, in case not, I can help you this afternoon, when i return.

thanks for the reply, the fix turned out to be simple, i uninstalled then re installed then put the patch in the first run.  It was so simple and clearly explained in the steps. >.< i feel dumb, thanks for replying though.

Hi there,

I've got a similar problem. I followed every step mentioned here but it still crashes after the intro.

My system runs on Vista 64 - E6600 Intel, 2 GB Ram and something like a 3750 ATI.

Smiley

I hope there's a solution Smiley

Greetings,

Phil

Hello

Are you sure, that you deactivated the colored mouse cursor when you start the game the first time? Most player with the intro crash problem forgot that.

Unfortunately I have no vista and can only guide you to the vista-guide and waiting for olly who can fix most of all errors Smiley

What do you mean by colored cursor? I can't go to the menu because it freezes during the into. I get the menu music but not the menu. Taskmanager marks Dark Omen as 'not responding'.

He means the "colour mouse cursors" option under the settings menu.

Yep, but if crashs in the intro you could only try the intro-crash-fix

Hi Phil,
i think i had your problem some months ago, i fix it and i'm playing since i did'it. But the "new problem" is that i don't remember very well how i did'it.
Try to do what i wrote in this post  "Warhammer Dark Omen Forum | Warhammer Dark Omen | Help Section
  I can't play dark omen
".
If doesn't work let me know it, there is something else to try.

Hi,

this is a common problem and easily solved..

http://forum.dark-omen.org/help-section/ultimate-dark-omen-game-fixes-t111.0.html

please follow guide and ...

1) Uninstall Dark Omen
2) Delete C:\Program Files\Dark Omen  folder
3) Reboot
4) Install Dark Omen
5) For Vista Download d3drm.dll and Copy this file to "DarkOmen-Directory\PRG_ENG".
    http://en.dark-omen.org/dark-omen-and-windows-vista.html
6) Download  The Crash Intro Fix
    http://en.dark-omen.org/downloads/view-details/5.-miscellaneous/intro-crash-fix.html
7) Start Dark Omen and go Straight into Options
Cool In Options set Graphics to CPU and not 3d Mode (Flickers screen) and
9) In Options set NO to Coloured Cursors

Now try and play the Campaign and Test Mission1 Map.

Any further problems you could try a no CD Patch (google it) and try the Dark Omen TroubleSHooter
found in DarkOmen-Directory in Program Files. TShoot and select no patch and run it.

Smiley

Let me know how u get on.
