What version of Windows XP are you using 32bit or 64bit?  As the Intro Crash Fix hasn't installed correctly. Just Uninstall Dark Omen and start again -> Install Dark Omen and before starting it for the first time, install the Intro Crash Fix and then start the Game and Skip the Intro and go straight to Options and set to CPU and non Coloured Cursors and Alt Tab if required, I know that you've tried this but probably not in that sequence (Install game and apply Intro Crash fix before starting Dark Omen). Also try the No Cd patch to see if that helps.

use regedit.exe and go to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Dark Omen\1.0\Options\Options

Change 'Selected' to 1 and I think that should fix this particular problem

Hi every one

i discovered this forum some days ago and i am very surprised (and happy)
there are still some people playing this very nice game.
I played DO on PS1 many years ago and i liked it very much.

I have been to the download section and now i can play DO on my PC, thanks to you.

However, i have a trouble, in fact 2.

First, i didn't have any trouble to install DO on XP. I followed your instructions;
everything went as you said, so that's ok.
But, on Vista 32, it doesn't work.
Of course, i didn't forgett the put the d3drm.dll in the PRG_FRA directory (i am french) Grin.
The trouble is that, during the INTRO, if i click on to short it in order to go directly to the menu,
the game blocks completely (the PC too). The same occurs if i let the INTRO go to the end.
So, i can never have the menu. If you have an idea.

Second, it is rather for your information.
My anti-virus detected 3 trojan.
I give you the path:
dark omen\directx\drivers\usa\mgaxdd32.dll - infected with Trojan.MulDrop3.3856
dark omen\directx\drivers\ger\mgaxdd32.dll - infected with Trojan.MulDrop3.3856
dark omen\directx\drivers\frn\mgaxdd32.dll - infected with Trojan.MulDrop3.3856

I am adding that i found these trojan not only in my computer connected to internet but also in the other one
(no internet connection). I think it is in the donwloaded files.

Thanks in advance.

What anti-virus program do you use?  I suspect its a false positive but i will check.

For the crashing after the intro please download and use this:

1) Concerning the "infected" files, you are probably right.
It is just an information in case of.
I am having Dr Web anti-virus.

2) Concerning the crash during INTRO (in fact, it is not a crash
or a return to desktop but rather a blocked PC), i already used
the "do_crashfix.reg".
Moreover, i checked the regedit, i have the code:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\Dark Omen\1.0\Options\Options
     "Selected"="1"
    "SoftwareSelected"="228"

but i have also this one

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Dark Omen\1.0\Options\Options
    "Selected"="1"
    "SoftwareSelected"="228"

and the trouble remains Sad

Where am i wrong?

Thanks for your previous answer!

228 is correct, it means colour mouse curser is turned off.

Another possible fix try:
http://en.dark-omen.org/downloads/view-details/5.-miscellaneous/vista-/-windows-7-crash-fix.html

If that doesnt work try launching the dark omen hardware trooble shooter, click no i need to use the trouble shooter, advanced, then disable sound, and force mmx render.

Hi

I have installed your other fix.
Now, i have the INTRO without image, only the sound
and when i click on, the game goes to menu.
Everything else seems ok until now, so it works, thank you very much!! Cheesy

Now, i will begin to see how to play in multiplayer per internet, it is an other story.  Wink

Dark Omen runs fine on Win7 32 and 64bit but you must install the game and before starting it up, install the Intro Crash fix, then start the game. Fans only have Black background problems when they initially start the game before applying the fix.
