Hi all, I love this site.  I was able to find the game and thanks to this site I've been able to patch everything, add all the mods, etc.  The one thing I have been unable to figure out is how to get the 3D graphics working.  In the version of the game I found and install, 3d graphics is already greyed out.

There are a lot of threads about this, and many point to others, and to be honest, I keep getting pretty confused  Embarrassed

If I can't get the 3d graphics working, its obviously not the end of the world as between the original game and all the mods, I'll have entertainment for days, but with that said, any help you guys can provide would be much appreciated.

Hi and welcome, please read the other posts about Windows 7/8 and 3d mode as you will need to Hex Edit your EngRel.exe or download my one ->

http://forum.dark-omen.org/help-section/3d-mode-and-win8-dark-omen-t1164.0.html

http://www.mediafire.com/download/1ur0m1oikki78ox/Win8DOFix.zip

This other help section post also describes why you can't change from CPU mode to 3d ->

http://forum.dark-omen.org/help-section/dark-omen-in-full-3d-mode-high-res-xp-and-no-flicker-t248.0.html;msg12307#msg12307

So our Vista/Win7/8 Intro Crash fix  sets the Dark Omen registry Options to be CPU and greys out 3d mode, so you can manually edit the registry to be 3d or import my win7 Registry. This will probably only work if you have an NVidia graphics card and maybe an ATI/AMD one (untested) but won't work with Intel Graphics cards.

Dark Omen Win 7 Registry File ->

Please let us know how you get on ->

Thanks for the response!  So just to be clear, I should run the moddedhexfor3d exe after I'm done trying your registry file?  Also, do I need to rename that one to just "EngRel"?  Or can I leave the moddedhexfor3d at the end?

1) Import my registry (If you have Windows 7 64bit) or run change it yourself by pressing Windows Start -> Run -> Regedit and search for Dark Omen folder to change Hardware selected to 252

2) Use my EngRel  (which is already a renamed copy of moddedhexfor3d)
3) Set 16 bit compatibility settings by right clicking Properties of my EngRel.exe
4) Start Game and see if you can change to 3D
