Ultimate Dark Omen XP/Vista Game Fixes

We all Play Dark Omen on XP/Vista in CPU Mode with No coloured Cursors as 3D Mode Flickers





To Fix Game change to CPU mode and not Coloured Cursors on the First time u run the game.
So we need a new Clean Full Installation, so Uninstall Dark Omen and Clean the Registry and Reboot.


1) Install Dark Omen-Full Installation

2) For Vista Download d3drm.dll and Copy this file to "DarkOmen-Directory\PRG_ENG".

3) Download  The Intro Crash Fix for both Vista and XP and run it.

    However, for Vista 64,  the regedit settings need to be in
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ElectronicArts\DarkOmen\1.0\Options\Options]
    and not in
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Dark Omen\1.0\Options\Options
    "Selected"="1"
    "SoftwareSelected"="228"
    where  the Fix tries to place them. Manually create New String Data "Selected"="1" and"SoftwareSelected"="228"
    if they are missing from your Options Folder (perhaps due to Admin Permission and may be in Virtual Store).

4) For Vista start Dark Omen as Administrator (right click on engrel.exe -> Run as Administrator)
    and go Straight into Options but for XP just start the game normally and go Straight to Options

5) If the Electronic Arts logo Intro movie is unwatchable/"Tearing"  (usually on Laptops) try Alt Tab
     back to Desktop and Alt Tab back to Game. If it does not help you can try pressing Alt+Tab for many
     times until it stops flickering or close every other program.

6) In Options set Graphics to CPU and not 3d Mode (Flickers screen) and

7) In Options set NO to Coloured Cursors, download coloured cursors patch instead



     Now try and play the Campaign and Test Mission1 Map.

The "Black Back Ground" is fixed using the Intro Crash Fix.

Any further problems you could try Alt Tab on Startup, If it does not help you
     can try pressing Alt+Tab for many times until it stops flickering or close every other program.


For Alt Tab in Vista/Windows 7, try this Fix.

It will also force Admin Mode (UAC Warning) if you're trying to run EngRel.exe or tshoot.exe to prevent problems with the UAC (and the IntroCrashFix). If you disabled UAC this change will have no effect

Perhaps try the Dark Omen TroubleSHooter found in DarkOmen-Directory in Program Files.

TShoot(Vista Right Click and run as Administrator) and select  No Patch and run it.






To make the game look slighty better in CPU mode u can use the Textrue Switcher from here....

Warhammer: Dark Omen Texture Switcher 16KB Right Click to Save as a Winzip file. Then extract to C:\Program files\Dark Omen and run dots.exe it will as k u to browse to your Dark Omen folder and then run it. This actually swaps textures around so in CPU, as u scroll along the map it doesn't look so rough/sketchy.

Also download the Coloured Cursors and paste them in so that when we use NOT coloured cursors (Black and White) they will actually be coloured now.
