Okay so I have been trying to make DO do what I want so I can join you guys and play this great game

OllyOrc has helped me over Hamachi but to no further succes =/ (and yes olly I got the version you mentioned)

Okay the issue boils down to when I click on multiplayer

select TCP/IP and click connect, the little box asking about IP  (I have entered none to simulate being host)

what happens is the game freezes, I dont get to the screen where you can create a game, it gets stuck there

I have the following links to pictures to show you more visually what I mean
http://img123.imageshack.us/i/pic1itu.jpg/ I select TCP/IP
http://img228.imageshack.us/i/pic2qya.jpg/ I enter no IP
http://img188.imageshack.us/i/pic3qez.jpg/ game crash =/

Any help would be greatly appriciated

PS: I have now installed DO on my XP laptop aswell but same scenario =/

PPS: If I am trying to make it work on the laptop since XP has less issues than vista, so you can focus your help there if that is easier =)

To Clarify, crash means that the game doesnt respond, I have tried waiting

and tried to reinstall

this is on the XP laptop

More clarification

I can play campaign missions both on the xp and vista machine, so only the multiplayer part which is bugged

And on bembelimen's suggestion I check my engrel.exe it had the correct md5

Just keeping you up to date

more suggestions welcome =)

It's all down to you using Vista 64bit and how Dark Omen installed itself,

it appears that dplaysvr.exe is unable to Launch for your Dark Omen Multiplayer Games.

http://forum.dark-omen.org/help-section/ultimate-dark-omen-xpvista-game-fixes-t111.0.html

and can be seen in your pictures and remembering from when we tried the other night, your dplaysvr.exe

will naturally be located in a wow64bit folder and therefore may require you adding an Extra line into the Registry.

This is why Forcebindip works, as it is an alternative to DirectPlay. Here are some pictures of my XP registry to compare.

I will have install Vista 64 on my virtual machine and test this theory and hopefully create a solution.
